Young girl used social media as she was attacked by Charles Salter- her 55-year-old abuser
A young girl logged on to Facebook while being raped in an attempt to distract herself from her horrible ordeal.
Charles Salter,55, groomed the girl and began sexually abusing her when she was just 12-years-old, a court heard.
Salter, of Hull, admitted two counts of raping a girl under 13, two of sexual activity with a child, and one of sexual activity with a child under 13.
On Monday he was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
Hull Crown Court heard that Salter had raped her on numerous occasions and threatened her to get her to comply with his sick desires.
She finally plucked up the courage to confide in a friend and the police were informed.
Prosecutor Patrick Palmer, described one attack during which the victim looked at her Facebook to try and block out what was taking place.
The abuse had taken a terrible toll on the young girl's life, the court heard.
In a victim impact statement, the traumatised youngster said: "I felt like I had nothing to live for because of what he was doing."
Judge Jeremy Richardson QC said: "Fortunately, she is now receiving counselling to help her.
"It is to be hoped her life is not ruined."
Sentencing him to 12 years in prison, he added: "You corrupted and debauched that young girl.
"I forbear to set out the details – they are grotesque."
